Mickey’s House Foundation helps young adults who have aged out of foster care find safe, attractive housing and an environment designed to support stability and independence.

The organization calls these young adults “Timed-Out Foster Youth” — young adults who have reached adulthood and aged out of the foster care system. They deserve the same chance to feel at home and plan for what comes next as anyone else.

Why Housing Matters

Mickey’s Story

The woman behind the name.

Mickey was Michelle Russell’s mother. As a baby, she spent time in an orphanage. Michelle remembers her for her kindness and the unconditional love she shared with others.

She was generous even when she had little of her own. Her faith was personal and central to the way she cared for people, and she taught Michelle about God, love, and service.

Michelle created Mickey’s House Foundation in her mother’s memory. The homes it creates carry forward those values: a welcoming place, given with dignity and generosity, for young adults who need stability and support as they build independent lives.
